Fished the Patriots Cup this Friday. The Patriots Cup is a fund raiser for Warriors Weekend. A Guide donates a trip and then a donor bids on the trip, which includes taking a wounded warrior. This year I had Davis and his wife Cindy. Joseph was our warrior. We had a good day on the water catching a variety of species. Here is Joseph with his 26” Red Fish.
Finally seeing a shift in the wind with it moving North East this weekend. Had a couple of lady’s in Saturday. Here they are with two of the reds they caught after completing their limit of trout.
Drifting in the Back lakes has produced boat loads of undersized trout. Give it enough time and you can pick up a limit of Trout with a Red or two mixed in.
The Sheephead are still stacked up at the jetties. Had an afternoon trip on Friday and had a three person limit of Sheephead in about an hour. The Trout have been harder to find. Doesn’t look like there will be any chance for a jetty trips for the next few day. Spring Break is upon us book your trip now.
Had a trip Thursday to show a client around the area. Due to the North and West winds the bay water was extremely low. Decided to pick up some shrimp and head to the jetties. Spent a couple hours fishing the jetties and finished with a nice mixed bag of Trout, Reds, Sheephead, and Drum.
Decided to fish the last weekend of duck season since the duck population was getting thin. Made a quick jetty trip, three limits of Trout and Sheepshead free lining shrimp.
Had Tina her husband and their 8 & 9 year old sons on Saturday. Managed to get on a good redfish bite, with a bonus drum.
It sure felt like summer again this Friday and Saturday. The high pressure and near full moon has slowed the trout bit down some. Still managed near limits of trout while drifting from the boat throwing plastic tails. The high tides have pushed the Reds back into the lakes, but they're still hungry. Caught and released about 25 fish Saturday in about a 2 hr. window.
Megan purchased a trip I donated to a benefit last year. Her boyfriend had to work so Megan came by herself. Started off with steady redfish action until mid-morning when the bite died. Was able to find a slow trout bite later in the morning. Found some large drum and what they wanted to eat was large fresh shrimp. Caught several drum before running out of bait and calling it a day. Wound up with a nice mixed bag of fish.
Half day trip from the boat with a full moon slowed the catching down some. Still had a fun trip with Parker and his family.
